Kanye West's new Adidas Yeezy cleats have been banned from America's National Football League (NFL) because the shoes' design violates a uniform policy.
The All of the Lights hitmaker recently sent boxes of his new Turtle Dove Yeezy 350 cleats to a number of top athletes to wear on the football field, and Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins was among the sports stars to model the new shoes last week (ends11Sep16) as the new season kicked off.
However, NFL executives have since ruled the black and white boots do not comply with their uniform rule, as they do not feature the required solid base colour.
They have since fined Hopkins $6,000 (£4,610) for his fashionable choice, and as a result, he has no plans to wear the Yeezy 350s for a game ever again, unless "Kanye wants to pay the fine," reports ESPN.com.
Denver Broncos star Von Miller, Minnesota Vikings' Adrian Peterson, and Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins also showed off the new shoes on the field during Week 1, but it is not yet known if they have also been fined.
The Adidas Yeezy 350s went on general sale online on Thursday (15Sep16), and the NFL ban proved to be a non-issue for amateur players as the cleats, priced at $250 (£190), sold out immediately.
Kanye has yet to comment on the NFL's uniform policy.
The news emerges days after Kanye debuted his Yeezy Season 4 designs at New York Fashion Week, but the presentation was widely panned by critics. In a pre-show interview with W magazine, he hit out at industry snobs for failing to support his endeavours and blasted those who don't think he takes fashion seriously.
