After a year of global success Stockholm Songwriting Camp is back in Sweden for its third anniversary and with a greater capacity. On the 29th January to 2nd February we see 45 of the world’s top songwriters and producers from 12 different countries gather in Stockholm to create and network. This year the event will be extended by an extra writing day and the initiatives SC Talks and SC Feedback Sessions broadened with an international focus.
After Paris and London, Stockholm Songwriting Camp is back at Pop House in Stockholm for the third year. This years camp is the largest yet with an extra writing day and impressive program for SC Talks with international speakers. 45 of the world’s brightest writers and producers from 12 countries take part including: Maegan Cottone (UK), Era Istrefi (XK), NEIKED (SE), SHY Martin (SE), KREAM (NO), MADDEN (NO), Tamas Molnar (HU) Hitimpulse (DE), Ana Diaz (SE) and more. Participants are behind works of artists like Katy Perry, Sam Smith, Lorde, The Chainsmokers, Zara Larsson, Ed Sheeran, Icona Pop and Adam Lambert.
- We have received an incredible response globally and it feels great that, for the third year, we receive some of the world top songwriters. We will continue to pursue our vision of creating new opportunities for music creators worldwide and an equal music industry without borders. This year we have as many females as males attending and more female producers then we have previously had, says Niclas Molinder, founder of Stockholm Songwriting Camp and Auddly.
SC Talks discusses gender equality with an international focus
SC Talks is this year expanded with a larger audience capacity, global perspective and international participants. One topic focus at this year's event is on women producers, with Jan Gradvall moderating panel with Raphaella (producer UK), Ebonie Smith (US producer, engineer and founder of Gender Amplified) and Cindy Lee (Vem Kan Blir Producent).
Also on the agenda is a look at Swedish music education, how musicians can reach out via YouTube, as well as an interview with songwriting duo SHY Martin and SHY Nodi.
- Learning music production helped to liberate me and gave me an artistic medium for self-expression and self-actualization. At its core, Gender Amplified is about sharing this experience with other women and girls. It's my mission to be the catalyst for their discovery of music production and technology, says Ebonie Smith, award-winning engineer, music producer and participant at Stockholm Songwriting Camp 2017.
Even this years SC Feedback Sessions – an initiative where up and coming songwriters have a chance to get constructive feedback from top Swedish A&Rs – is growing past Swedish borders. This year, the initiative circulated amongst music makers in areas including Kosovo, Hungary, USA and Australia.
