JAY-Z convinced his wife Beyonce to collaborate with Eminem on his new track Walk on Water.

The single is the first song from the Lose Yourself hitmaker's rumoured new album, which is reportedly called Revival.

It was released on Friday (10Nov17), just days after Eminem teased the song by writing "Walk on Water" on a fake prescription card and sharing it online.

Following the launch of the tune, the 45-year-old rapper chatted with Rick Rubin on the Broken Record podcast and revealed that it was, in fact, Jay who brought him and Beyonce together.

"He (Jay) liked it and she (Beyonce) liked it, and he got her to sing the chorus," Eminem confessed.

The hip-hop star, real name Marshall Mathers III, also talked about the pressure of keeping his material fresh.

"Where do you go if people are always expecting something different from you?" he asked. "There's less places to go that you haven't already been."

In addition, the Detroit-raised performer touched upon his musical influences and had high praise for the late Tupac Shakur.

"He always knew the right words to say on the right chords. I studied that so much and he was so genius at doing it. He never said the wrong thing on the wrong chord," Eminem gushed.

"Go listen to (1995 song) Dear Mama, every bar was so in place where it should be. He was so smart about picking his beats. Tupac always said feel me and you have to feel him and not just hear him."

Eminem's track Walk on Water comes weeks after he sparked speculation he is gearing up to release a new album, as a campaign linking him to fake drug Revival has been showing up on social media platforms.

According to editors at Pitchfork, billboards for the "drug" began popping up across the U.S. last month (Oct17), and Eminem's manager, Paul Rosenberg, posted an Instagram photo of one of the ads.

Eminem hasn't released an album since 2013's The Marshall Mathers LP 2, and although an official announcement has yet to emerge, it appears he is embarking on a promotional tour as he is slated to be the musical guest star on comedy show Saturday Night Live on 18 November.
