Theon-Marcel Phokeerdoss is a British singer/songwriter, born and raised in London.
Heavily influenced by storylines, action and superheroes, over time he became captivated by this imagery and always envisioned himself taking on a superhero persona, hence the name “Fantastic Mr Marcel”. It was during this time he began to express himself in a way that established his individuality and his signature style as an artist. While at University he started to shift his focus from creating art onto music, which started with him writing his frist song, "Made For My Heart.
He grew up listening to R&B, soul and indie music. He was heavily influenced but artists such as James Morrison, Paolo Nutini, Lauryn Hill, The Jackson five and Motown. Inspired by lyrics in songs, he channeled his passion and started to focus on writing his own music.
Theons sound lies between soul and pop, with songs tackling different subject matters and evoking different emotions.
This is the first volume of his music and is titled "Stop Calling Me Names" Mixtape Vol. 1. The title, "Stop Calling Me Names", is inspired by Theon’s struggle to distance himself from the comparison of his style to other famous black musicians. With this mixtape he is forging a path for himself as an artist and an individual.
