Eminem has opened up about his feud with fellow rapper Machine Gun Kelly, admitting the reason behind it is "petty".
The Lose Yourself hitmaker released new album Kamikaze earlier this month (Sep18), and on the track Not Alike, he took aim at the Bad Things star for talking publicly about his daughter Hailie after describing her as being "hot as f**k" on Twitter in 2012.
In his first interview since he released the surprise album, the rapper, real name Marshall Mathers, explained to presenter Sway Calloway that the reason behind his feud with Kelly was actually far more petty than that.
"You know you go down the f**king wormhole of YouTube and whatever, right?" he said. "So I see, 'Machine Gun Kelly talks about Eminem's daughter' or whatever, right? So I'm like, 'What the f**k?' I clicked on it. Then he starts doing a press run, basically, about Hailie. I'm like, 'What the f**k? Yo, my man better chill.'
"So, that's not why I dissed him. The reason I dissed him is actually a lot more petty than that. Now I'm in this f**kin' weird thing, because I'm like, 'I've got to answer this motherf**ker.'"
Eminem is expected to go into more detail when part 2 of The Kamikaze Interview, the follow-up to Tuesday's part 1, goes live on YouTube and Eminem's website at an unknown date.
On Not Alike, the Without Me star rapped, "And I'm talkin' to you/but you already know who the f**k you are, Kelly/I don't use sublims (subliminal messages) and sure as f**k don't sneak-diss/But keep commenting on my daughter Hailie."
Kelly responded with his own diss track titled Rap Devil, a play on Eminem's song Rap God, in which he rapped, "'I think my dad's gone crazy,' yeah Hailie you right/Dad's always mad cooped up in the studio yelling at the mic/You're sober and bored, huh? I know/About to be 46 years old, dog."
Eminem confirmed to Sway that he was working on a response.
