Jennifer Lopez won't be forcing fans to sit through new songs during her Las Vegas run, preferring to give them hit after hit instead.
The 46-year-old singer has enjoyed a three-decades music career with hits including Get Right, Jenny from the Block and On the Floor, and she admits she doesn’t get bored of singing her biggest tracks - and is happy to give her fans what they want when she’s onstage.
“I like playing more the big hits than anything," she told MTV News. "I’m not the artist who goes on tour and goes, 'I have this new record so I’m going to play you all these new songs that you don’t know'.
"I know you’re supposed to get people to fall in love with those new songs but I am all about hits, hits, hits, and I like to play hits because I know that’s what people want to hear and I want people to have a good time when they come to my show.”
Her fans will certainly get her full back catalogue as part of her Las Vegas residency, which begins in January (16) at the Planet Hollywood resort. Jennifer is just as excited as her followers for the series of shows, as it gives her a chance to put all her ideas in one place.
“All I’m thinking about is creating the show that I’ve always wanted to create,” she explained. "Dance Again was the first world tour I went on and it gave you a taste of what I can do onstage. Vegas provides an opportunity because it’s in one place for you really to create anything. The best shows are in Vegas.”
Other stars who have scored residencies in Sin City include Britney Spears, Celine Dion and Shania Twain, and Jennifer is full of admiration for their work.
“There’s just so many amazing shows," she added. "It’s like the sky’s the limit - you can really create something beautiful and that’s what I intend to do. I intend to take my music and the hits I’ve had over the years and add some other stuff that people know me for, that I’ve done onstage and have my Latin side, my pop side, my hip-hop side, my dance side and all those different things."
