Iman is "holding up" in the wake of the death of her husband David Bowie, according to a friend.
Iconic singer David lost his battle with cancer on Sunday (10Jan16), which surprised both fans and friends around the globe as he'd kept his illness secret. There has been an outpouring of love for the Life on Mars singer since his passing, and Iman's close friend, former model Bethann Hardison, has told People magazine that Iman is coping as well as can be expected.
"She's fine," Bethann told the publication. "We're fine. We're holding up.
"It comes in waves, you know. He's a great loss – not just a loss as an artist, but as a human."
Iman and David have daughter Alexandria, 15, together. In the wake of his death, David's close friend and collaborator Ivo Van Hove has revealed how Alexandria, known as Lexxi, made her father determined to keep going.
"I could see the tears behind his eyes, because he was not a man to show off his emotions. He was really in deep fear," he said of the December 12 (15) New York premiere of their stage show Lazarus.
"I felt he was not in a death struggle but a struggle for life - he wanted to live on. He has a daughter of 15 and he really wanted to go on, but it was physically not possible."
In the days leading up to David's passing, Iman posted a series of Instagram posts hinting at the sad news that was so come. She posted countless photos of her other half, from black and white photo shoot images, to David on stage.
One post was simple a picture with the words: "Sometimes you will never know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory."
After it was revealed David had died she uploaded a image simply telling fans: "The struggle is real, but so is God."
