Christina Aguilera has found a new singing partner for her The Voice finale - and this one's alive!
The pop star was set to wow fans by singing alongside a hologram of Whitney Houston, but the late diva's family scrapped the idea after early footage of the duet leaked online last week (ends20May16) - and now Ariana Grande has stepped in to sing with Christina.
Pat Houston, the executor of Whitney's estate, told ET Online the hologram was simply too low-tech for the family to allow it appear on a primetime broadcast.
She said, "We are so appreciative of the opportunity for the Whitney Houston hologram to appear on NBC's The Voice with a talent pairing as extraordinary as Christina Aguilera and Whitney Houston. We were looking to deliver a groundbreaking duet performance for the fans of both artists.
"Holograms are new technology that take time to perfect, and we believe with artists of this iconic calibre, it must be perfect. Whitney's legacy and her devoted fans deserve perfection."
Bosses of the U.S. TV talent show had to scramble to fill the slot set aside for judge Aguilera's Whitney duet, and now Grande has stepped in to save the day.
And both women are clearly excited about Tuesday night's (24May16) performance.
"Excited to share the stage with @ArianaGrande on tomorrow night's @NBCTheVoice finale," Aguilera tweeted late on Monday (23May16), while Grande responded hours later by retweeting her duet partner's message and adding: "beyond excited and honored!!!!!!!!!"
Grande recently stunned fans with her pitch-perfect impression of Aguilera during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The news of her The Voice performance comes as Grande launches her sexy new video to accompany the single Into You. The promo features America's Next Top Model contestant Don Benjamin as the singer's love interest. Last year (15), Ariana's brother Frankie revealed he and his sister are huge fans of the show and take time for binge-watching sessions.
