Nick on Black Lives Matter and Not Voting For President…

Nina: Just for other people out there, can you talk a little about the misconception of Black Lives Matter, it seems like there's starting to become a negative connotation with that hashtag, as if other lives don’t because black lives do.

Nick: No one ever said only black lives matter, it’s a cry out for help, we are saying Black Lives Matter, too. People always say I am mad and tired about hearing about Black Lives Matter. We're mad that we have to keep saying it. It is ultimately trying to drive attention towards the issue. It’s a problem about social injustice and criminal injustice. I always say the devil is the author of confusion, you know what I mean? It feels like if I can separate them, it is not about separating and confusing concepts, it is about hey, trying to bring attention to the issue of injustice. And it’s unfortunate that it gets clouded and convoluted and can spawn more negativity.

Nina: You talked about this before. Are you voting?

Nick: Will I be voting? I will definitely be voting in my local election. The pageantry of the presidency, I am not really for that. I feel that local government is specific to our community. A lot of people get up there and argue and debate about Hillary or Donald Trump and then you ask them who their city council man is, and they say ‘I don't know’. I think we got to start in the community. I encourage everyone to exercise their right. I mean there is lot of people that died and fought for the right to vote. Me personally, I don't like the pageantry of it, it’s a popularity contest.
