Britain’s favourite pop band Madness will be embarking on their first major arena tour in over two years in support of their brand new album ‘Can’t Touch Us Now’ out today! Just announced to join the nutty boys on tour is seminal band Lightning Seeds.
‘Can’t Touch Us Now’ featuring BBC Radio 2 A listed single ‘Mr Apples’ is the follow up to 2012’s Top 10 album ‘Oui Oui Si Ja Da Da’ which was certified gold in the UK. Madness are one of the top 20 selling UK groups of all time, with seven top ten albums, 22 top 20 hits and over six million album sales to their name.
‘Can’t Touch Us Now’ is the latest step in an incredible few years for the revitalised nutty boys. They spent the summer months road testing the new material at some of the UK’s most iconic festivals including the main stage at Glastonbury. They headlined Clapham Common on August 29th with their own House of Common festival and will return with the legendary House of Fun Week-ender in Minehead on November 18 - 21st before embarking on a full UK tour in December including a show at the O2 on 10th December.
The new tour will see Madness showcase new tracks from their new album as well playing all the hits and fan favourites.
Joining Madness across the UK on their arena tour are Liverpool alternative rock band Lightning Seeds. Formed in 1989 by Ian Broudie, Lightning Seeds generated a whole host of attention not only in the UK but stateside too with their six studio albums including Jollification and Dizzy Heights.
Ian Broudie’s career has spanned decades and still influences the music industry of today from producing, writing and working alongside fellow northern bands like The Fall, Echo & the Bunnymen, Miles Kane, The Coral, The Zutons and more. Ian Broudie and the band are currently underway with the first Lightning Seeds album for many years, watch this space for more news to come.
Also joining the band in London is The Clang Group formed by Madness’ legendary longtime producer and Deaf School founder member Clive Langer. Their first LP ‘Practice’ was released last month on Domino Records.
