I love music that is full of energy and played to a super high standard. I don’t care whether it be Blues, rock, folk, Americana, the spirit is all important.

So I’m blown Away by this album from The Dead South. Folk & Bluegrass with no sense of holding back or keeping to tradition.
In my mind’s eye I can see these guys playing their music with a whooping and hollering young crowd cheering them on. The feeling is almost like that of the best punk bands who play to satisfy their musical itch rather than sticking to any formula.

It really is that good.

The songs are tight. Perfect little jewels of Bluegrass with properly adult themes – loving, killing, loving a bit more, cheating and drinking – and the band play with real style and verve, banjo and fiddle especially finely played and harmonies to die for.
