Being released in the peripheral months to summer, this single once again demonstrates Kasabian’s strong ability to write a song to a brief in which they have set themselves. The song kicks off instantly, jumping straight into the chorus instrumentation as an intro with the song's mantra ‘ready or not’ repeating, setting the scene.

The song’s about making a comeback or recovery, which lyrically, fits into the theme of the fickle British summertime weather. The verse kicks off with the positivity of “Don’t give up, it’s not too late” and this song is littered with further messages from frontman Serge reiterating advantageousness. in-fact, every verse, and the bridge begins with the line “Don’t give up, it’s not too late”. Since Tom Meighan's departure from the band, Kasabian have earned a reputation of being experimental and at times sounding more like an expansion of Serge’s solo project, The SLP, rather than ‘traditional’ Kasabian. However, ‘Coming Back To Me Good’ has the perfect blend of modernism that their recent work has presented, along with melodic guitars and heavy percussion that could be associated with their earlier work. Therefore, this track feels like it wouldn’t be out of place on any Kasabian album.

Perhaps Kasabian are very much summer people as there is a trend of releases in their discography that tie in to that season. Their last two albums were released in August and May, and their impending LP entitled ‘Happenings’ will be released July 5th. Whether this is an example of Kasabian's marketing tactic remains to be seen, but nevertheless this new single see’s them back to their near best, and will sure to be a popular choice for the neutral at festival settings.
