Wychwood Festival is set in the elegant surroundings of the Cheltenham Racecourse, home to the Gold Cup. In an age where even Glastonbury is considered overrun with corporate messages Wychwood is a breath of fresh air.

Wychwood’s aim is to make as little environmental impact on the site as possible but at the same time create an environment where people of all ages can come together and enjoy exceptional comedy and music.

By the time Duffy took to the stage the festival was in full swing. She was the biggest draw that day and with an audience made up of parents with their little ones and young couples (arguably her whole demographic) she wasn’t going to have to do much to win them over.

As with so many artists the live arena showcases the songs far better than on record. Highlights included 'Serious’ and a gorgeous version of 'Warwick Avenue’ but there was something lacking. Filling half the set with B-sides didn’t help and everyone in the band looked like they were simply going through the motions, there was a palpable sense that this was just one more gig to get through.

Whilst Duffy is obviously confident in her vocal abilities (with a voice like that who wouldn’t!) She seemed uncomfortable in the between song banter and some of her dancing felt a little awkward and forced.

When everything clicks Duffy can be amazing and that voice is mind blowing live. She has obvious potential and in time she will be one of the greatest female singer songwriters Britain has ever produced. Right now however, she’s still most definitely a work in progress. Lets hope her record company realises this and doesn’t push her too far, too quickly.

After Duffy the main tent beckoned and what a glorious surprise awaited. Kissmet - a band of many faiths working together to create a riotous fusion of Bhangra, Raaga, funk and rock. They took the audience on a celebration of all that is good and positive in the world, focusing on our country with all its different customs and beliefs. If only more people were this positive about multiculturalism. Oh and if you want to see Led Zeppelin Bhangra style, look no further.
