After appalling support, there’s a heightened sense of anticipation as The Music hit the stage. The Bierkeller is like light to flies tonight, its tiny capacity fit to burst as The Music fans groove out of the woodwork and fill the tiny venue, their dancing legs on, their smiles wide, longing for the first chords to break and the first bodies to fly. This is the first Music gig in Bristol for four years. The button has been pushed and its time to jive.
So far this tour has been a major success, each and every gig an orgy of musical genius. The Music have been quite the spectacle on this tour and tonight is no different. The new songs are settling in to the flow of the set nicely and after hearing them a few hundred times on record, live they make even more sense.
It’s when the golden tunes of the catalogue come out to play that the seething mass really begins to make its presence felt. 'Getaway’ again proves the major highlight of the evening, this dynamic slice of melodic perfection sooths all the ills in the collective mind and sent everyone within range into the realms of pure ecstasy.
The band are tight. Tight like a tiger and musically just as ferocious. 'The People’ is a force to be reckoned with, it keeps the tempo frantic and rinses the crowd for all its worth. Naturally Rob’s frenetic moves on stage inspire an equally frenzied reaction from his following.
Another gig done, another full bore success. Can the music get any better? No. Can The Music get any better? By Christ yes! God, if you exist, we thank-you for The Music, again we are not worthy.
