The Underworld is exactly what it is, an underground world of hedonistic depravity… well, club night at least. Tonight though saw a man called Mike Peters take to the stage. He used to front an inspirational band called The Alarm, and I believed in everything they stood for…

‘Coming Home' was the first number to be imparted, track one of the current album and a stalwart opener. When Peters announced ‘Absolute Reality' next, I felt old emotions become entwined with new, these were the reasons I loved music, and these were the songs that fundamentally moulded me as an individual. It takes me back to a favourite bar room discourse, which has always provoked heated debate, ‘Is music really important?' Tonight there was no discussion, just a stream of justifications. ‘Drunk and Disorderly' [same chords as substitute] was the best new track of the night followed by a constant cascade of classics, ‘Freedom', ‘Marching On', ‘68 Gun's', ‘Where Were You Hiding When The Storm Broke', 'Blaze of Glory', the list went on. Audience participation growing to fever pitch, okay, there was no Dave Sharp, Twist or Eddie McDonald but Mike was here and during ‘Rescue Me' he stirred the crowds emotions as he did of old and the mosh pit beckoned yet again.

Mike Peters used to front an inspirational band called The Alarm, he still does, and I believed in everything they stood for… I still do.
