With ex-Sid Presley axeman Del Bartle taking stage following Kris Dollimore’s somewhat acrimonious departure , The Godfathers were back in London for the first time with their new line-up.

Lead vocalist Pete Coyne recently announced on the band’s myspace page that The Godfathers would be releasing a new album 'sometime’ in 2010 and promised it to be 'freaky rock & roll music, ultra-melodic stuff’ but any fans waiting for a taste of the new material will have to wait until Valentine’s Day as the band again played out a selection of their classics.

The Godfathers are an exceptional live outfit, the sort of band that every young and aspiring rock 'n’ roll band setting out today (and most of those who’ve made it!) should see so they can witness how it’s really meant to be done.
They rocked out the classics. 'I Want Everything’, 'Cos I said So’, 'Lonely Man’ all came thick and fast but what really lit the blue touch paper with the crowd was 'Hup 2 3 4’ and 'Public Enemy No 1’. From then on it was the usual mayhem you expect at the front of a Godfathers gig which had been slightly stunted by the ridiculously early start time of 8.45!

The Coyne brothers were particularly inspired. Chris Coyne oozed cool and determination whilst brother Pete gave his usual 100% committed performance.

You know what you get with The Godfathers. Rock 'n’ roll at its purest with angular guitar hooks flying around and intertwining from every possible direction, barked out with no nonsense. Sensational, I can’t wait for that new material.
