First and foremost, what is predominantly apparent tonight is that there is a pretty good crowd gathered for a band who are still relative newcomers. The bands single ‘Birds & Planes’ has been receiving much airplay on Radio 1 lately, which has no doubt helped their cause somewhat.

However, with so many bands around at the moment all fighting for a place in our hearts, it’s sometimes easy to get lost in big production video screens and backdrops for a live show, but what follows tonight is completely opposite. It’s just a band playing kick ass songs, the way it should be. And what’s more, it’s a sublime exhibition of the art of music making - crushingly loud, intensely clever and unreservedly meaningful. Each song Dinosaur Pile-Up throw out has an immediate impact on the crowd and although these chaps have been labelled ‘grunge throwbacks’ by some, after tonight you can’t have any reservations that they are actually one of the most exciting bands to come out of the UK in some time and any doubters should be well and truly silenced.

‘Mona Lisa’ and ‘Birds and Planes’ obviously get the best reaction this evening with the band playing their hearts out and strangely, as they leave the stage you get the feeling you have just witnessed something pretty special. Dinosaur Pile-Up won’t be playing in venues this size for very much longer that’s for sure.
