The Leeds based indie rockers blew minds on the 6th of December at The Underground venue in Stoke-on-Trent. With the release of their new album ‘Nobody’s Coming to Save You’ in early February 2010, The Sunshine Underground have evolved ridiculous amounts since their early material. They have taken a new electro-inspired route to their music, which doesn’t seem to bother their crazed crowd surfing fans. Loyal devotees were standing outside the minute venue on the ice glazed, freezing cold sidewalks of Stoke-on-Trent waiting for their musical fix.
Having stated in previous interviews that Craig, Stuart, Daley and Matthew (the members of the band) are not fans of massive venues or audiences, Stokes’ most valuable and modest venue met their wants and needs perfectly. The band performed renowned tracks such as Borders and ‘Put You in Your Place’ which made the crowds go beserk. They whopped out some of their new tracks off ‘Nobody’s coming to save you’ such as ‘We’ve always been your friends’ and ‘Coming to save you’ and front man Craig Wellington put on a fantastic show alongside his three band mates. Not only was it a good show visually, but sound wise they were and are almost identical to the album versions of their tracks. It is so refreshing to come across a band that genuinely puts their heart into their music and do what they want to do rather than what they are expected to do. They write music that they enjoy which then projects a positive message to the crowd. Nice one guys!
