Salt (Cheryl James) and Pepa (Sandy Denton) burst onto the stage at The Palais Theatre in Melbourne and kept the party atmosphere going to the very end. Although I’m a self-confessed rock chick, I have to admit that Salt N Pepa were on fire on the last night of their successful Australian tour.

Incredibly Salt N Pepa have been around for 25 years and still look as good as they did back in the 80’s. Right from the onset the duo made it clear they were going to party with the crowd and not just perform for them. This made the already feverish crowd hyper excited.

Most of the songs were an abridged version, mixed in with the likes of Nirvana and Guns N Roses tracks. Although I would have preferred more of their songs performed in their entirety, Dj Dee Wiz helped to keep the momentum going. Highlights of the night were “Shoop”, “Whatta Man”, “Lets Talk About Sex” and “Tramp”.

Salt N Pepa continued to make the audience feel like they were part of the show and brought up a group of ladies, followed by a group of men to dance with them on stage. They also picked out an Asian man to help them sing along to GnR”s “Sweet Child O Mine”, mixing up Hip Hop with rock music.

Their contribution to the world of Hip Hop is undeniable and the pair have sold over 15 million albums worldwide. A special mention also goes out to Salt N Pepa’s back-up dancers who oozed rhythm and sex appeal.

The show closed with an encore performance of the long awaited International hit “Push It” to an excited audience. Overall, a fun energetic concert that proved that these two ladies still have “it”.
