Adele throat cancer rumours hit Twitter

News sites have been reporting online rumours that Adele’s throat surgery may be due to cancer.

Adele has cancelled her recent tour to undergo surgery for a vocal chord haemorrhage.

But ever-reliable celebrity-death-and-injury aggregator Twitter saw the hashtag #prayforadele trending, upon rumours that a haemorrhage would not require surgery and she is actually being treated for a form of throat cancer.

The only statement her people have released so far is that she is going into surgery and “Doctors have ordered her to rest her voice and completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments.”

While haemorrhages are said to usually only require rest, she has chosen to undergo surgery.

She said to fans when canceling her US tour, “I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or I risk damaging my voice forever.”

Let’s hope this is another false notice in a long line of internet Chinese whispers.
