Based on analysis of streams by British users over past 12 months, Spotify has forecast the acts, songs and albums likely to win big at this year’s ceremony, Spotify users predict Bastille to walk away with three BRIT Awards.
As the world’s hottest talent prepare to attend the BRIT Awards, Spotify has analysed streams from the past twelve months to predict which nominees will clean up at this year’s glittering ceremony.
Key predictions include:
• British Breakthrough Act: Bastille
• Best British Single: Pompeii, Bastille
• Album of the Year: Bad Blood, Bastille
Fresh from smashing the summer charts, the London four-piece are predicted to win big at this years’ awards with over 100 per cent more streams for their single Pompeii than Disclosure who are currently ranking second in the British Breakthrough Act according to Spotify.
Bastille are also holding off competition from Passenger for Best British Single and are keeping Arctic Monkeys in second place for Album of the Year.
• Best Female Solo Artist: Ellie Goulding
After spending the past four years on a steady climb to success, Ellie Goulding is one of the undisputed queens of the charts, racking up 112 per cent more Spotify streams than Jessie J who is in second place.
• British Male Solo Artist: Jake Bugg
The Lightning Bolt singer is tipped by Spotify fans for success in this hotly contested category, where he’s ahead of David Bowie in Spotify streams.
• Best Group: Arctic Monkeys
After smashing the US with The Arctic Monkeys are firm favourites to take home the gong for Best Group, with a narrow margin between them and Bastille who are in second place.
• International Group: Daft Punk
Daft Punk broke the streaming record on Spotify last year with the release of Get Lucky, which gained over 1 million streams in the first week of the release. The DJ duo currently have over a third more streams than their second place rivals, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
• International Female Solo Artist: P!nk
P!nk is one of the world’s most streamed female artists on Spotify and predicted to pick up the award for best International Female Solo Artist narrowly beating Katy Perry, by 5 per cent.
• International Male Solo Artist: Eminem
Spotify fans are firmly behind him, tipping him for success in International Male Solo Artist category, where he’s currently leading the way with 38 per cent more streams than Drake.
