Beyoncé Knowles 'spoke' to her daughter during labour to ease the pain.

The American singer has little girl Blue Ivy, who turns two in January, with rapper husband Jay Z.

In the latest edition of Australian magazine Marie Claire, which she graces the cover of baring her toned midriff, Beyoncé revealed she felt like a mother even before giving birth. She was so in sync with Blue Ivy that she imagined a scenario in which they were helping each other to get through her labour.

"I felt very maternal around eight months. And I thought I couldn't become any more until I saw the baby," she recalled. "But it happened during my labour because I had a very strong connection with my child. I felt like when I was having contractions, I envisioned my child pushing through a very heavy door. And I imagined this tiny infant doing all the work, so I couldn't think about my own pain... We were talking. I know it sounds crazy, but I felt a communication."

Beyoncé returned to the spotlight shortly after welcoming Blue Ivy into the world.

Despite finding fame in girl group Destiny's Child and selling millions of records worldwide the 32-year-old star still feels wary of what people think of her when she takes to the stage.

"I'm still completely nervous," she confessed. "I still feel pressure."

She continued to reveal she often reads articles about herself online. However, she draws the line at reading comments left by people at the bottom of the story as she worries they will be negative.

"Don't scroll down!" she advised. "You're definitely going to get your feelings hurt."
