Chris Brown is reportedly being investigated for criminal battery following his brawl with Frank Ocean earlier this year.
The musicians and their entourages are believed to have got into a fight in the parking lot of a Los Angeles recording studio in late January. Although there were reports shortly afterwards that the case had been closed, TMZ now suggests that may not be the end of it. The website is speculating that the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office has kept the incident file active and is still deciding if Chris will be prosecuted for battery.
Chris’ rival Frank decided not to formally press charges at the time, but it has been claimed the case is under review.
It has been reported that the dispute could be raised at Chris’ probation review hearing later today.
The 24-year-old was sentenced to five years probation and six months of community service after assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.
Chris is due to attend today’s hearing and the judge overseeing the case might address the brawl with Frank in relation to his probation guidelines.
While Frank was initially eager to see Chris prosecuted following the altercation, he later called for “peace” with the hip-hop star.
Frank no longer wanted to press charges against Chris, insisting he had moved on from the incident.
"As a child I thought if someone jumped me it would result in me murdering or mutilating a man," Frank wrote on his Tumblr account.
"But as a man I am not a killer. I'm an artist and a modern person. I'll choose sanity. No criminal charges. No civil lawsuit. Forgiveness, albeit difficult, is wisdom. Peace, albeit trite, is what I want in my short life. Peace."
Chris is currently also being investigated for an alleged hit-and-run incident.
Last year the singer was involved in a bar brawl with rapper Drake in a New York City nightclub, with his attorney claiming Drake was the instigator.
