Chris Brown’s settlement in a legal case stemming from his 2012 nightclub brawl has reportedly been approved.
The 25-year-old singer infamously feuded with Drake at New York City’s W.I.P. nightclub in June 2012 in an incident that allegedly resulted in bottles being thrown and multiple injuries.
According to RadarOnline, executives at the venue have reached a settlement with Chris after talks nearly broke down earlier this year.
The outlet reports Chris’ lawyers in April filed an opposition to the plaintiff’s motion to withdraw.
Court documents obtained by Radar reportedly argued the settlement “took months, included numerous sessions with the court, and required many hours of attorney negotiation”, and noted that “withdrawal at this critical moment in the settlement process would materially adversely impact the parties’ ability to execute and finalize the Settlement Agreement".
All parties were subsequently required by a judge to appear for a compliance conference, and it’s believed the talks have now reached their conclusion.
Chris meanwhile has several other legal issues pending.
The pop star began serving jail time in March after he was kicked out of court-ordered rehab for anger management, apparently violating the terms of his probation stemming from his 2009 conviction for assaulting ex-girlfriend Rihanna.
The singer was then arrested in October 2013 for allegedly assaulting a man in Washington, DC, prompting prosecutors to bring the case before a judge.
The magistrate subsequently sentenced the rapper to 234 days, including time served in both rehab and in jail.
Proceedings in the DC case have been postponed until June.
