Chris Martin is reportedly "shocked and concerned" about claims being made about Gwyneth Paltrow.
Vanity Fair is planning an article about the American actress, which is said to question her friendship with Elle Macpherson's husband Jeff Soffer. She is said to be furious about the story and has asked friends not to respond to requests for comment.
Although the exact nature of the feature is unknown, the magazine has previously written an unflattering piece about Tom Cruise. Gwyneth's husband Chris is said to be nervous about the story.
"Gwynnie is just so mad, so spitting mad. She's gearing up for war. But she's also defiant, saying, 'People are just jealous of me,'" an insider told British magazine Heat. "Chris is equally as shocked. He doesn't care about their public image and what people think, but he's also very, very private so this article is a concern."
Gwyneth's representative has already denied there is anything untoward about her friendship with Jeff.
Although it's unknown exactly what the feature will include, Gwyneth's attitude towards food is rumoured to be up for discussion. She is known to have a strict diet and was criticised for saying she didn't allow her children to eat much carbohydrate.
"Gwyneth can be very opinionated," another source said. "You're seen the website [GOOP], the cookery books - she thinks she's an expert on everything and will say, 'Oh, that's a bad way to raise your kids. I would never let my kids eat that.' You get nervous if you are inviting her and Chris to dinner."
