Simon Cowell reportedly doesn't know if he can "change his bachelor lifestyle".
The 53-year-old media mogul is expecting a baby with Lauren Silverman, the ex-wife of Simon’s former good friend Andrew Silverman.
The shock baby news is said to have hurt Simon's former flame Mezhgan Hussainy particularly badly, even though she split from the X Factor boss in 2011.
Sources say Simon is aware that Mezhgan is still pining for him, and that Lauren is also interested in building on their relationship.
"Simon knows Lauren wants a romantic relationship, but he doesn't know if he can change his bachelor lifestyle," an insider admitted to Closer magazine. "He wants to be on good terms with her and just see what develops."
At the recent UK premiere for boyband One Direction's movie This Is Us, the music mogul was reportedly anxious about Mezhgan's attendance. Friends say Simon - who discovered the group - saw his ex looking upset at the event, which has worried him about how his baby actions may be affecting others.
"Mezhgan's been very tearful and finds the whole situation hard to bear," an insider revealed. "There's a part of her that feels that she should be the one who is having his baby. She took a younger guy to the premiere to lift her spirits but still felt low. Simon hates seeing her so upset and feels torn. He just wants everyone to be happy, but knows Lauren and the baby have to be his priority now. "
Mezhgan, 40, dated Simon from December 2009. The pair were engaged to be married before they ended things in 2011, with Simon admitting he was a "lousy boyfriend" at the time.
