Simon Cowell reportedly wants to name his first child after his late father.

The 53-year-old media mogul is expecting a baby with Lauren Silverman, the ex-wife of Simon’s former good friend Andrew Silverman.

According to UK newspaper The Sun, Simon is considering honouring his dad by giving the tot the moniker Eric if it’s a boy or Erica is it’s a girl.

“Simon’s made it clear he’d like Eric to be considered as a name,” a source said.

"Lauren likes it as it’s unusual in America, and quite stylish too. She also feels Erica’s a cool name for a girl.”

The X Factor boss’ dad passed away after suffering a heart attack in 1999 at the age of 81.

Lauren, 37, is three months along in her pregnancy, according to reports.

She divorced from the father of her seven-year-old son, Adam, earlier this month when news of her affair with Simon emerged.

The TV mogul has called his father a “brilliant mentor” in the past and recently spoke about his excitement of being a first-time parent.

“[I’m] proud to be a dad,” he told BBC News. “Things are changing in my life right now. [It’s] something I haven’t thought of before and now I know I feel good about it.”

Simon also took the opportunity to compliment the future mother of his child saying: “She’s a very special girl.”

Lauren is said to be expecting the couple’s first tot in February next year.

Simon has so far declined to elaborate on how far along she is or if knows the gender of the baby, commenting only, “I can’t say.”

The duo were spotted kissing and holding hands as they enjoyed a break in St. Tropez last week.
