DMX says his “friend” stole his car.

The rapper, real name Earl Simmons, tells TMZ he loaned his 1978 Buick Regal to a man named ‘Lonny’, who promised to sell it for him.

The star says he and his girlfriend, Desiree Lindstrom, gave the vehicle and a copy of the title to the man, whose last name they don’t know.

The alleged thief evidently disappeared earlier this month and changed his phone number.

Police are reportedly investigating.

The vehicle theft comes just weeks after TMZ reported DMX was arrested for driving on a suspended licence, driving while uninsured and driving an unlicenced vehicle.

The outlet claims the Party Up hitmaker was taken into custody while driving at the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport in Spartanburg, South Carolina earlier this month.

An airport representative allegedly spotted the rapper behind the wheel and notified police, having become “well versed on his track record”.

DMX, 42, has been arrested for a series of driving charges in recent months.

In February, he was apprehended for driving without a licence and in July he was arrested for the same offence, as well as driving under the influence.

In August, he was taken into custody after the car he was travelling in made an illegal U-turn and was pulled over. He wasn't driving but was arrested as he had an outstanding warrant. He was also cited after marijuana was found in the vehicle.
