Jason DeRulo has raised a glass to is “haters”.

The 25-year-old singer confirmed last week he had ended his relationship with American Idol winner Jordin Sparks, insisting at the time the split was amicable.

And Jason appeared to address the negativity aimed at him in an Instagram image posted Sunday, which showed a picture of Leonardo DiCaprio lifting a glass of champagne as his character from The Great Gatsby.

"Cheers to my haters. Be patient, so much more is coming…" text on the photo read.

Jason didn’t include a caption for the image, although thousands of followers had liked it within minutes.

The message came after Jason’s performance with the University of Southern California Marching Band at the Los Angeles Coliseum - his first public appearance since his split was made public, according to E! News.

Jason was said to be “all smiles” at the gig, according to the outlet.

“He looked good… After singing, he turned around and thanked the band. He seemed genuinely grateful for the opportunity to perform with the Trojan Marching Band,” a source said.

Jason meanwhile has tried to put rumours to rest about the reason for his split from Jordin.

"Everything is cool man. It's not a bad situation, it's not one of those kinds of things," he told Minneapolis radio station KDWB last week.

"I spent three great years with Jordin and she is one of the most amazing people that I have ever met," he subsequently told ABC News. “But as in all relationships there are ups and downs and at this time we have decided to amicably part."
