Demi Lovato was deeply inspired by her weekend visit to her former rehabilitation centre.

The 19-year-old musician was treated for an eating disorder last year at the Timberline Knolls treatment facility in the state of Illinois.

Demi was deeply moved by her reunion with staff and patients at the establishment on Sunday.

"Today I went back to the treatment centre I went to last year, to speak to the beautiful women fighting their inner demons. [I] was so honoured (sic),” Demi posted on her Twitter account.

"Wow what an inspiring day... Many tears were shed and many memories were brought back at Timberline Knolls today."

Demi had the opportunity to discuss how she coped with her bulimia and self-harm issues with current patients at the facility.

The star was roused by the positive reception from the women she spoke to.

"To be able to share my story and let them know that it gets easier. Life is beautiful.... You are worthy of it," she added.

Demi often thinks about those who suffer from such disorders. She deeply supports the health and wellbeing of anyone coping with these or similar problems.

"Please say a prayer for all of those struggling with eating disorders, self harm, mood disorders, and substance abuse."
