Celine Dion has to feed her husband “three times a day”.

The My Heart Will Go On singer has been married to René Angélil for 20 years. Her spouse also acts as her manager but recently the 46-year-old has put her career on hold to care for him as he battles throat cancer. And in a new interview, Celine struggled to contain her emotions when she spoke about what they are going through.

“He can't eat so I feed him,” she told ABC News as she wiped away tears. “He's got a feeding tube. I have to feed him three times a day.”

René, 73, has beaten the disease once before. Over the years he has also had to conquer heart problems and in June last year he stepped down as his wife’s manager to focus on his health. She, in turn, went on an indefinite hiatus from the stage to care for her loved one.

The couple has three sons together and Celine has walked them through every step of their dad’s fight against cancer.

“We are taking life one day at a time,” she added. “[But] we are choosing to live.”

With this in mind, the Think Twice star announced last week that she will be returning to the Las Vegas stage in August as part of her ongoing residency at Caesars Palace.

“It is very emotional for me and I'm anticipating the emotions to grow even more as the date gets closer," she told People magazine at the time. "It's very touching. Every night is a new show … I promise there will be high, happy notes."
