Sensational string quartet, Dirty Pretty Strings, will be hosting an evening of modern voices and old fashioned strings, gowns and candlelight, silent films and live music on Friday 23 November 2012 in aid of North London children’s hospice, Noah’s Ark.
The charity, an expanding children’s hospice service, is providing support for children and young people with life-threatening and lifelimiting conditions and their families living in North London. The glamorous evening, with special guests Paloma Faith, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Ed Harcourt, Carl Barat and Brett Anderson, will recreate the look and resonate to the sounds of the 1930’s.
The singers will be performing mainly their own songs together with a few covers. Dirty Pretty Strings bring together all the people they love to play the music they love to support a cause they love. North London based sisters Amy, Gita, Rosie and Edie Langley studied at the Royal Academy of Music and formed the string quartet Dirty Pretty Strings to write, record and perform for top artists on TV, in the studio and live on stage.
In recent years the quartet has written and performed with Kasabian, Muse, Carl Barat, Brett Anderson, Paloma Faith, Goldfrapp, The Streets and Sophie Ellis-Bextor. Their motto is beautiful music; beautiful dresses and this evening will be no exception as they will be performing as a 12 piece string section wearing glamorous evening gowns by Jenny Packhamto reflect the golden Hollywood age.So glam up and come on down!
