Lady Gaga’s ex-assistant has supposedly signed a $1 million book deal.
The pop star was famously embroiled in a court battle with Jennifer O’Neill, a former employee who accused the Applause singer of overworking her and making bizarre demands on time.
According to Page Six, Jennifer has struck a publishing deal worth $1 million with Simon & Schuster imprint Atria Books and is currently writing a tell-all entitled Fame Monster. The tome’s manuscript has not yet been delivered for print and Atria’s director of publicity Paul Olsewski tells the outlet a release date remains unconfirmed.
In 2012 Jennifer sued Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, in Manhattan Federal Court for $393,000 in unpaid wages, claiming the superstar owed her overtime.
In court papers she insisted her alleged work responsibilities went above and beyond what is deemed reasonable.
"I was frequently at Ms Germanotta's side, often ready with coffee and/or water, from dusk to dawn," Jennifer wrote. "I was glued to Ms Germanotta to such an extent that at one point I was asked… to step back so that I would not in the way during photoshoots."
Gaga gave a five-hour deposition to Jennifer's lawyers on August 6 as part of the ongoing legal action.
A videotape of the session obtained by the New York Post reportedly showed the singer slinging insults at her former employee in a profanity-laden tirade.
She is quoted as describing the plaintiff as a “f**king hood rat who is suing me for money that she didn’t earn”, claiming Jennifer didn’t appreciate luxuries and felt entitled at all times.
The matter was resolved out of court in fall 2013, but details on the settlement were not disclosed.
