The Marsa Ship Building shall host the Malta Eurovision Song Contest this weekend. The semi-final which will see 20 acts on stage will take place this Friday 21st November. Only 14 acts will make it to the National Selection on Saturday 22 November . The Grand Final will select Malta’s representative in Vienna. A mixture of tele-voting and jury vote will be used to decide the winner.

Lyona Xuereb Gatt and Daniel Chircop shall host the show. Mezzo-soprano and 2014 Junior Eurovision contestant, Federica Falzon will open the show with the song “Diamonds” on Friday and the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, Conchita Wurst will open the show on Saturday. Wurst will perform the winning Opera-pop song “Rise Like A Phoenix”. Later in then show, she will also perform her latest song called “Heroes” which was released on 8th November. “Heroes” fuses elements of pop and classical music and is defined as a Baroque-pop song. It will be included in the upcoming debut album by Conchita.

The first batch of rehearsals took place yesterday. The day ended with the rehearsal of the JESC theme song #together, however, this time it shall be sung by all the MESC hopefuls. The second batch of first rehearsals is in full swing all day today.

The public is advised to use the park and ride service of Corradino and Floriana on Friday and Saturday to avoid traffic and parking problems. The service will be free of charge as from 18.15 onward. Seating time is at 19.45 and the doors shall close at 20.15.
