Have our festival creature comforts gone too far? It look as if the next festival could be the most sophisticated yet.

Glastonbury could be getting washing machines when it returns in 2013.

The festival is taking a year off in 2012 so as not to compete with the Olympics and it seems that the legendary event will be even more upmarket when it comes back.

The festival's operations director Melvin Benn has told The Sun: "Older fans are getting far more demanding and we have to respond. That means better toilets and now washing machine facilities."

It's a far cry from the 1970s when the toilets were little more than a hole in the ground.
