Hackney Wick is set to gain a free mini festival this Summer at the site of the Old Baths on Eastway.
The venue will become a vibrant hub over the next few weeks - not only showing the World Cup games on huge screens but also hosting live bands and DJs each night.
Bands already on the bill include Too Many T's, Gorgeous George, Wonderlust, Beans on Toast and The Din - DJs will include a mix of big names and celebs, as well as some label takeover nights.
Kicking things off at The Wick on 12th June, rugby legend Martin Offiah MBE will be taking to the decks either side of the Brazil v Croatia game and look out for pro footie players popping up for 5 a side games on The Wick's pitches too.
Not only is there great music at The Wick but also the sort of food you'd expect at slightly more 'up market' festivals; a daily BBQ from Big Apple Hot Dogs, ice cream served with 50s charm from Jiggery Pokery and the famous Sugar Shack and its lovingly smoked soul food, to name but a few...
We have been told there will also be a giant beach, a games room, a kids' zone including disco and lots of street art at The Wick, and entry to the venue will always be free.
On the launch night and for key games look out for a special appearance from the 'Paka Dragon'; a robotic creature breathing fire, plus flaming hula hoopers and samba dancers.
