The Horn in St Albans, Herts is fighting to keep on putting on live music in St Albans in the face of mouunting costs and pressure from their landlords but they have started a campaign to save the venue that has given first gigs to the likes of Enter Shikari, Gallows, Paul Young and The Subways.

The venue boasts 37 years of playing live music but the management admitted -

"We don't need to tell you how difficult it is out there for the pub trade in the UK, we are all fighting hard to ride out the dreaded recession. We are no different to anyone else and things are very tough with high rents and extortionate utilities bills ....... our electric bill went from £5k a year to £11k in the space of 4 years!
We have hung in there for last 4 years but we are feeling the pressure and things are really tough so the team here at The Horn have had a brain storming session and we have decided to do whatever it takes to get through this. We are starting a Save the Horn campaign!"

"As we head towards spring 2012 we are refusing to give up and will do everything we can to keep this historic venue going but we need everyone's help"

The campaign looks to be going under the title of ‘The Viagra Campaign SAVE THE HORN!'
and the management are looking to make significant changes to the layout of the pub in order to improve the pub part and create a feeling of local ownership and they need help from local builders etc to help with the work . Also "Hansi and I (Adrian) have been here over 15 years and need help so we are looking to recruit an assistant promoter who can get really involved with the local music scene."

If anyone wants to help they can contact:
