This week’s Mercury Prize winner and nominees have seen significant uplifts in sales of their albums across CD, vinyl and MP3 as customers rush to hear the tracks of the new artists of the moment.
James Blake’s ‘Overgrown’ has seen a sales uplift of 2,538% on Amazon.co.uk following his Mercury Prize 2013 win. Fellow Mercury Prize nominees have also seen a huge sales impact following the much-anticipated Mercury Prize ceremony on Wednesday evening.
Savages have seen a 278% sales uplift of debut album ‘Silence Yourself’, veteran British artist David Bowie saw a 229% uplift on 27th studio album ‘The Next Day’, and Villagers saw a 215% uplift on sales of second album ‘{Awayland}’.
New artist of the moment Laura Mvula also saw her Mercury nomination have a significant impact, with sales of debut album ‘Sing to the Moon’ up by 165% following the ceremony. Disclosure’s ‘Settle’, Jon Hopkins’ ‘Immunity’ and Laura Marling’s ‘Once I Was an Eagle’ also saw sales uplifts of over 100% on Amazon.co.uk.
