Keith Urban says his touring car is like “driving an iPod”.

The country music singer is fan of driving and motor vehicles, and has an extensive range of classic cars.

Keith recently bought a more modest model and says although it’s not as impressive as other vehicles, it does have its advantages.

“I bought one of those little Fiat 500s. I had one when I was about 17 or 18, but it was a mid-60s one. It broke down all the time, but I just loved it. When they released this one I thought this is probably a much more reliable version of that great memory I had,” he explained in an interview with the Kyle and Jackie O radio show.

“It’s like driving an iPod. I’ve got all kinds of cars, but this one sort of yangs the yin. I bought it for touring. I needed a tiny car to fit in the trailer, and the fiat was like the perfect car.”

Keith has developed a polyp on his vocal cords and will get the growth surgically removed soon.

The 44-year-old star is optimistic about the upcoming operation.

“I just went a little hard on this tour, and got a polyp on my vocal cords, so going to have that taken off. At some point during the tour I haemorrhaged into a vocal cord and then this little polyp formed and it’s not going anywhere, so...” he said.

“[The operation] is less dangerous now than ever before, since the whole Julie Andrews debacle many years ago. [The star was unable to sing again following the surgery.] It’s not an uncommon thing, and we’ve certainly been seeing a lot of it recently too, but I think the technology has improved and so the success of this kind of surgery is much greater now than before.

“I’m hoping I can continue that tradition!”
