X Factor judge and new face of ‘make mine Milk’ asks “Why is your mate the best?”

Kelly Rowland, the new face of the ‘make mine Milk’ campaign today launches mate of the month a brand new monthly search for the UK’s best mates – and has given a heart warming account of what she’s done for her best friend from home.

X Factor star Kelly’s friends have always given her the feel good factor. She met one of her best friends, Barbara, almost twenty years ago, waiting for a lift home from school in Houston, Texas. She said: “I asked her her name and then that turned into a conversation, conversation turned into friendship. It’s just really a blessing, she’s always really straight with me, and I love her to death! The nicest thing I have ever done for Barbara is that when she got married, I actually gave them a honeymoon, so got the hotel, got the flights, everything, the travel. And she came back with a baby!”

The team behind the ‘make mine Milk’ campaign want to hear amazing stories of why your best mate deserves to be crowned mate of the month – whether it’s helping you through a difficult time or organising a mind blowing birthday surprise. There are some fantastic prizes to be won for you and your mate, from theatre tickets to shopping vouchers so you enjoy a great day out together.

Kelly wants people across Great Britain to get onto the new mate of the month app on Facebook, follow the instructions, and let her know why your mate should be crowned mate of the month.

Ex-Destiny’s Child member and self-proclaimed Independent Woman, Kelly Rowland is the latest in a long line of celebrities to don the famous milk tash as part of the multi-million-pound campaign. Amongst others, she follows in the footsteps of Harry Potter star Rupert Grint, F1 driver Jenson Button, supermodel Elle Macpherson, pop princess Pixie Lott and Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay.
