Neil Young releases 40-minute "Silent" Film to accompany Americana

It seems that the four promo clips for Neil Young and Crazy Horse's Americana using vintage film clips were all leading up to this.

Today, Young released a forty-minute silent-style film to accompany the release of the album, coming on June 5. Directed by Young's alter-ego, Bernard Sharkey, the film follows an author as he looks for the right illustrations for a book he is writing on American songs. The songs, including the previously released shorts, are interspersed between the newly shot footage which has a piano accompaniment.

The illustrations shown in the film are by designer/illustrator Shepard Fairey and will be available for viewing at Perry Rubinstein Gallery in Los Angeles for the next two months.
