Nick Jonas has confirmed he is in talks to join American Idol.
Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler have both left their spots on the TV show, with Mariah Carey joining.
There has been much speculation about who might accompany her, with Nick named as one of the frontrunners. He has now spoken about the reports.
“The rumors are true... I am being considered to be a judge on American Idol, and it would be a dream come true if it happens. #nickonidol (sic),” he wrote on Twitter.
It’s thought programme bosses want to make American Idol more appealing to a wider audience.
“[They] think [Nick] can help bring that younger demo to the show,” a source told Us Weekly.
It remains unknown if Randy Jackson will keep his place on the panel, with reports suggesting he will move from being a judge to a mentoring position.
Pharrell Williams is also thought to be in the running to join the show, with his contract negotiations said to be going well.
It’s unknown what salary the two men will command. Mariah is rumoured to be receiving $18 million a year.
