Nicole Scherzinger has always been "a loner".
The singer and X Factor judge prefers her own company to spending time with others.
Nicole is an introvert and shies away from the spotlight and socialising despite her seemingly confident appearances on stage.
"I'm a very private person and only have a handful of friends," Nicole confessed to British magazine Fabulous. "I get very shy if I have to go to an event or walk a red carpet and be around a lot of people. It takes me a while to come out of my shell. I'm a loner - in the [Pussycat] Dolls, when I was in college, always a loner."
Nicole analysed why she thinks she has become a reclusive creature as she has aged. The star blamed her ambitious and work-obsessed nature for pushing people away. She would rather spend time alone focusing on her career than bonding with others.
"I think it's because I'm always in work mode with a million things in my head," Nicole continued. "It's just how I was made. It's got me to where I am today."
