The legendary Nile Rodgers and CHIC are to headline the Turnaround Summer Gala, a star-studded concert in aid of the youth homelessness charity Centrepoint, which will celebrate everything homeless young people can achieve given the opportunity and the right support.
The inaugural event – to be held at London’s prestigious 8 Northumberland Avenue on Wednesday 8 July - will also feature performances by Rebecca Fergusson, house music trio Dirty Vegas and Britain’s Got Talent winners Collabro. Guests will also enjoy a champagne reception and outstanding dining in the historic venue's charming Old Billiard Room, followed by a glitter-ball themed after-party at the venue with music from BBC Radio 2 presenter Sara Cox, a long-standing Centrepoint Ambassador.
Centrepoint, which works with over 8,000 homeless 16-25 year-olds annually, will present Nile Rodgers with The Centrepoint Great Britain Youth Inspiration Award, in honour of his work with the We Are Family Foundation (WAFF). Founded with his life partner Nancy Hunt, WAFF is dedicated to the vision of a global family by creating and supporting programs that promote cultural diversity while nurturing the vision, talents, and ideas of young people who are positively changing the world.
Five young people supported by Centrepoint will receive the first ever Turnaround Awards on the night in recognition of their achievements in building a future for themselves. As well as safe place to stay, Centrepoint provides vulnerable young people with vital support in tackling the physical and mental health problems caused by homelessness and help to find a job or a route back into education.
