Paris Jackson is "in a good place", according to her grandmother Katherine.
The 15-year-old daughter of the late King of Pop Michael Jackson attempted suicide in June. She then spent a prolonged period in hospital and is now living at a residential facility for young people with similar issues.
Katherine has assured the public that the teenager is well on the road to recovery.
"She is in a good place, getting the help she needs," Katherine told the British edition of Hello! magazine.
The Jackson family matriarch is the legal guardian of Paris and her brother Prince, 16, and 11-year-old Blanket. She shares the responsibility with the children's cousin TJ and was devastated when Paris tried to hurt herself earlier this year.
"The treatment is going good, really good. She's my baby. It's hard for me, really hard. All I wanted these kids to be is happy. The night Michael died Paris was crying and said, 'I want to go and see Daddy, I don't want to be without him,'" she recalled.
Katherine praised her late son, calling him a "very good father". That said, she has decided to raise his children in a different way. Michael was adamant they needed protecting and famously made them cover their faces when they were in public.
Their grandmother believes it's vital for them to have as normal an upbringing as possible.
"They were sheltered a lot when Michael raised them," she admitted.
"I had thought about it and I said, 'I am not going to raise them like that [wearing masks].' But Michael had a good reason. He was trying to protect them.
"He instilled good manners but it's a different generation, of course, and I don't understand the whole social media thing. They are always on their phone."
Paris' family have done their best to shelter her from the limelight since her suicide bid. They have not confirmed exactly what happened, although it's thought the teenager is still struggling to come to terms with the loss of her father.
