Whitney Houston’s death was written “on the wall”, says Patricia Houston.
The late superstar’s sister-in-law, brother Gary Houston and 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina have shared their personal memories of Whitney in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, which is set to air on the host’s OWN Network this Sunday.
Whitney battled with drink and drug addictions throughout the years, and Patricia – who was Whitney’s manager – discussed the singer’s on-going troubles that she was sure would lead to her untimely passing.
"Did you think that drugs would end up taking her? Did you think that?” Oprah asked her in a clip from the interview released on Thursday.
"The handwriting was kind of on the wall," Patricia said. "I would be kidding myself to say otherwise."
Whitney was found unresponsive in a Los Angeles hotel room on February 11. The exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed, as toxicology results are still pending.
Patricia also revealed she was aware of Whitney’s other lifestyle choices that were having a negative impact on her life.
"But were you always afraid of that day, February 11, showing up in your life?" Oprah asked her. "Were you always afraid of getting a phone call or hearing that this is the day that it's happened?”
"If things hadn't changed. But things had, were, changing," Patricia responded. "Things were really changing with her. Very much so. ... I was afraid for other things."
