Liam Payne has admitted his fans "scare" him.

The singer and his One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan send girls everywhere crazy with their cute looks and catchy songs.

Currently Down Under with their Take Me Home Tour, Liam, 20, has found it difficult to deal with the impact mega stardom has on his everyday life.

"Well that was the quickest shopping trip ever think I've come to realise public shopping places are a bad choice #OnlineShoppingForLife," he posted on Twitter.

"Sorry to anyone I couldn't get a picture with, in the end there was just too many people and I got a bit scared lol sorry

"It's a lovely day today gotta say I do love Australia just wish I could go and see some more of it (sic)"

One Direction will perform in the country until October 6, when they move on to New Zealand.

It's not the first time Liam has been amazed by the lengths fans will go to as they trail the boys on their tour.

Eager followers seemed to be putting themselves in danger just to get close to the band.

"Girls behind the hotel please get out the fields there's a huge sign saying snake habitat it's just not worth it someone's gunna get hurt (sic)," he advised.

"Are u not reading what I'm saying its a SNAKE HABITAT TURN AROUND (sic)

In August Britain's Channel 4 showed documentary Crazy About One Direction, which followed fans and their devotion to the group.

Although their dedication might get on top of Liam at times, the star defended his followers after some argued the programme had portrayed them in a negative light.

"Not really sure what's going on right now I just hope everyone's ok xxx," a concerned Liam tweeted at the time. "Hearing some horrible things... Really hope this isn't true

"Just so all of you know we love you guys and we know how dedicated you are and tbh we can't believe it that you gus spend all you time on us

"We couldn't give a f**k what any documentary says there dramatised for entertainment and full of bulls**t anyway we all know...

"... How hard you work for us and see it everyday at our shows, Let's all take a step back and think about what we/you have all achieved... You should be proud (sic)."
