Cult electro-rock artist Peaches (14 Dec) and Ryoji Ikeda's immersive art project datamatics [ver 2.0] (13 Dec) will appear at a new season of live interdisciplinary performance called earsthetic at Brighton Dome this autumn.
Meshing together new electronic music, experimental soundscapes and visual art, the programme of events across Brighton Dome's three venues will also feature concerts from award-winning composer, artist and performer Mira Calix (10 Dec), Brighton-based experimental music collective Spirit of Gravity (11 Dec) and Planningtorock and Olivia Louvel (12 Dec).
Ryoji Ikeda's breathtaking art project is an experience like no other in sight, sound and scale. datamatics [ver 2.0] uses pure data as its source, transforming sequences from hard drives and software code into dramatic rotating 3D views, opening up spectacular and seemingly infinite vistas. Accompanied by a hypnotic soundtrack, Ikeda challenges the thresholds of our perception. Ikeda has performed internationally to critical acclaim at Tokyo's Museum of Contemporary Art, Paris' Centre Pompidou-Metz, London's Barbican Centre and Barcelona's Grec and Sonar Festivals.
The venue also plays host to a homecoming show from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (24 Oct), a very special tribute to some of the twentieth century's most renowned saxophonists with Jean Toussaint & Keith Loftis (17 Nov), haunting pop-noir with David Lynch protégé Chrysta Bell (23 Nov), legendary Cuban ensemble Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club (23 Oct), unique Malian sounds from singer-songwriter Rokia Traoré (6 Nov) and Bright Phoebus Revisited (15 Oct); a special concert that pays homage to the classic folk album featuring Martin Carthy, Richard Hawley and more.
The season also features performances from the likes of Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings (26 Nov), Jamie Cullum (4 Nov), KT Tunstall (10 Nov), Texas (21 Nov), Disclosure (25 Nov) and a special brass-infused Christmas concert from Kate Rusby (5 Dec).
