Selena Gomez has announced that she will become a big sister.
The 19-year-old singer is currently an only child.
Selena was raised primarily by her mother Mandy Dawn Cornett, who divorced from the singer’s father when she was five-years-old.
Mandy married Brian Teefey in 2006 and now the couple are expecting their first child together.
Selena is elated about the news.
"Momma and Brian are finally letting me share the news...My mommy's carrying my baby brother or sister:) I'm the happiest girl in the world!!(sic)" Selena posted on her Twitter account Friday.
Selena is celebrating her new sibling in the midst of her boyfriend Justin Bieber’s recent paternity scandal. Californian woman Mariah Yeater filed a lawsuit against the Canadian superstar claiming he fathered her four-month-old son.
The case was dropped by Mariah in mid November.
Justin has recently submitted DNA samples to prove that he is not the father of the young woman’s child.
