Selena Gomez has supposedly hired new management.
The 21-year-old pop star was previously managed by her mother and stepfather, Mandy and Brian Teefey, but she decided to part ways with her parents in search of new representation.
And according to The Hollywood Reporter, Selena has successfully found new managers. Apparently she has signed with two new talent agencies, WME and Brillstein. Aleen Keshishian, Zack Morgenroth and Scott Wexler are all members of her new management team.
The outlet reports Selena’s desire to find fresh handlers is part of a strategy to “move on into more adult-oriented fare in film and music”.
She launched her career as a child on the Disney Channel’s TV programme Wizards of Waverly Place, but in recent years she has taken on more mature roles.
Selena starred in director Harmony Korine’s controversial picture Spring Breakers, portrayed a street kid opposite Ethan Hawke in last year’s Getaway, and she has also recently finished filming forthcoming comedy Behaving Badly, which sees her act alongside Nat Wolff and Mary-Louise Parker.
Her music career has been equally successful, as her first solo studio album Stars Dance debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart when it was released last summer.
Selena’s parents represented the star since her days at Disney. But TMZ previously reported the singer-and-actress fired the pair because it seemed as if she had “outgrown” them.
Although Mandy and Brian were said to be upset with Selena’s decision, it’s not believed to have caused a major rift between them.
